The Social Register of Las Vegas raises thousands of dollars
for Easter Seals Southern Nevada in an
incredible star-studded event held at the magnificent
mansion of Mr. Phil Maloof.
The Social Register of Las Vegas held its Evening of Decadence
event, at the magnificent mansion of Mr. Phil Maloof.
Mr. Maloof hand selected several cars for display at the event
from his extremely rare classic car collection depicting the finest
cars in the world. Included in this collection are six Duisenbergs
and three (V-16) Cadillacs from the 1930s all perfectly
restored. Social Register members and their guests had a fabulous
time exploring Mr. Maloof's magnificent mansion -- the only home in the world that houses: two theater
pipe organs from the 1920's; the extremely rare collection of classic cars; and remarkable, giant model airplanes
suspended from an incredible domed ceiling that was custom-designed by artist Rebecca Conway to feature a
mural of a clouded sky that sparkles when the lights are dimmed with a network of fiber optics and twinkling
stars. The estate also houses an incredible collection of art and treasures including over 1,800 original paintings
and replicas; numerous fountains and statutes of the renaissance period; stained glass pictures of Hollywood celebrities
from past eras; Egyptian throne chairs; and a Brazilian cherry wood nautical bar with authentic porthole
covers from the PT 73 boat of "McHale's Navy."
Social Register members and their guests in attendance
at the event feasted on a decadent array of
gourmet foods and desserts from around the world,
while enjoying a host of live entertainment and celebrity
appearances by special guests such as Rich
Little. Renowned George Burns impersonator Chuck
Fraer was on hand to add to the festivity of the
event; concert organist Walt Strony performed a variety
of musical greats throughout the evening; and
Gil Martinez dazzled and amazed guests with his astonishing
magical talent; while Victor Rinaldo of
Caricatures by Rinaldo created whimsical portraits
for guests to take home as a memento of the evening.
The event featured a fabulous charitable benefit and silent auction for Easter Seals Southern Nevada. Since
1922, Easter Seals has been helping children and young adults with physical disabilities to address life's challenges
and achieve personal goals. Some of the children that Easter Seals helps are children who were born with
disabilities such as cerebral palsy and spina bifida, some have spinal cord or brain injuries resulting from childhood
accidents, others sustained brain damage through infections like encephalitis and meningitis. 100% of the
donation proceeds raised at the events charitable silent auction were donated directly to Easter Seals Southern
Nevada and the funds were specifically earmarked to help the children and families who are suffering in the Las
Vegas community.
Some of the fabulous auction items were donated by such renowned
individuals as: Judith Lieber; artist Steve Kaufman;
country music legend Glenn Campbell; artist Rebecca Conway;
country music star Leann Womack; and artist John Sanchez. In
addition to having graciously welcomed Social Register members
and their guests into his incredible home, Mr. Phil Maloof also
participated in the charitable silent auction by generously donating
artwork from his own personal collection as well.
As the Grand Finale for the event an array of decadent desserts
true works of art were displayed in the charitable auction.
Each of the spectacular desserts had been created and donated
specifically for this munificent event by: Chef Randy Sebastian
of the Rio Suites Hotel and Casino; Chef Brenda Hitchins of the
Flamingo Las Vegas; Chef Todd Phillbrook of Maries Gourmet Bakery; Chef Jesus of Treasure Island; Chef
Kathy Wessman of Mandalay Bay; and Chef Josette Leblond of Normandie Catering.
