Approximately 250 members and guests attended The Social Register's 5th Anniversary
Gala, A Tribute To Robert Goulet. The elaborate, black tie gala
commenced with a Nevada Symphony Strings Champagne Reception where
members and their guests were able to meet and have photographs taken with
internationally renowned entertainer Robert Goulet. The reception was followed
by an impeccable six-course gourmet sit-down dinner, a unique live
auction to benefit Miracle Flights for Kids, an elegant celebrity tribute to Mr.
Goulet, and dancing to the Lezlie Anders Orchestra.
Miracle Flights for Kids, formerly Angel Planes, was founded more
than 15 years ago by Social Register member Ann McGee, following
the loss of her own daughter to congenital heart disease. During
her ordeal, Ann realized that some kids are facing illnesses
that may require 10-20 trips to an out-of-state specialist. If that
child has both parents traveling with him or her, you're looking at
between 30-60 round-trip airline tickets for that one sick child.
Many parents are not financially able to handle these expenses.
Through Ann's efforts, donations from private citizens, and a volunteer
network of more than
500 pilots, Miracle Flights for Kids is able to provide an average of 80 flights
per month for children who would not otherwise have that opportunity. After
learning of their plight, Social Register President Clair Zeto felt certain
that her organizations members would rally to support the cause of Miracle
Flights for Kids.
By all accounts, the event was a tremendous success! Thousands of dollars
were raised for the Miracle Flights for Kids charity, and members and their
guests had a wonderful time meeting and paying tribute to legendary entertainer
Robert Goulet.
